The Yellow Group

The Yellow Group is for toddlers between 1 to 3 years old.

My name is Verena, and I am passionate about creating a nurturing environment where children can explore and grow. I believe in Jean Piaget’s idea that “children learn through experience, and the environment provides the perfect setting for exploration and discovery.” This quote is important to me because it reflects my belief that young children thrive when they are free to engage with their surroundings and learn through hands-on, meaningful experiences—something I strive to provide each day.

I completed the College for Nursery Education with additional training in Early Years Education in 2017 and hold certificates in Early Language Development and Motopedagogy. After graduation, I have worked as a main teacher for toddlers, first in Upper Austria and, since 2021, in Vienna.

Alongside my formal education, I gained valuable experience through spending one year as an au pair in the USA, working in a UK kindergarten, supporting a children’s choir, and volunteering in schools and kindergartens in Africa. These experiences gave me a strong foundation in early education and a deep understanding of the unique needs of young children. They continue to shape my approach to creating a warm, safe, and stimulating environment where every child can feel secure, valued, and empowered to grow.

I am truly looking forward to working with your child and building a strong, trusting partnership with you as parents. Together, we can ensure that your child’s early years are filled with joy, curiosity, and meaningful learning experiences.

Hello, my name is Sara.

I’m originally from Italy but I have spent almost 10 years in Ireland, Aotearoa New Zealand, and Canada, where I’ve gained experience in Early Childhood Education (ECE). Over the years, I’ve worked with children of various ages, from infants to toddlers and preschoolers, in both home and ECE settings. My approach is influenced by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which focuses on child-led learning and fostering a strong connection with nature. I enjoy integrating the scientific knowledge I gained from my degree in Natural Science into my teaching, helping children explore the wonders of the natural world.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, with a thesis focused on bilingualism in early childhood, and a Postgraduate Diploma specializing in Infants and Toddlers. I have also completed a Master’s in Pedagogy. In my thesis, I explored how educators can contribute to the early identification of children with autism and the strategies available for supporting them. Languages are a passion of mine. I speak Italian, English and Spanish fluently and I have basic knowledge of French, Māori, and German. I believe that languages are a powerful tool for connection and understanding, particularly in multicultural settings, where they enrich the learning environment for children.

I recently moved to Vienna and am thrilled to join the Yellow Group team at Vienna English Preschool in September. I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues, meeting all the families, and creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Hi! My name is Zinnia, and I have lived in Vienna for the past two years. I am really excited to join the VEP team as a Teaching Assistant!

I believe that for a child to thrive, they need to feel safe, included, and engaged in their environment. This means that I pay lots of attention to the unique needs and personalities of each child, ensuring that they are able to grow, play, and learn in a space where they feel confident and supported in. As a creative person, reading, storytelling, and arts are a passion of mine. I also believe that creativity is essential to a child’s development, I am thrilled to share this with the VEP children to support them in tapping into their personal creativity.

I was born in California, but I also grew up in both Thailand and Sweden. This experience has fuelled my appreciation for international and multicultural communities, something that I am very proud to be a part of. I am fluent in English and Swedish, but also have some familiarity with German, Thai, Hungarian, and Spanish.

I have been working with children for around 8 years alongside my studies in International Relations and Geography. My love for working with children began with my very first job as an assistant at a kindergarten in my hometown in Sweden. Over the years I have babysitted for families, worked as an English teacher, and as a summer camp supervisor for young children. These experiences have provided me with the invaluable tools to foster a nurturing environment for young children and I am delighted to be able to continue my journey of early childhood education here at VEP!

German & English teacher

Hello, my name is Alexandra Ruhmannseder, and I am proud to serve as the head teacher of our kindergarten. With over a decade of experience in early childhood education, my journey has been one of continuous learning, passion, and dedication to the well-being and development of young minds.

I began my career as a preschool teacher in August 2006. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with all the groups in our kindergarten, gaining invaluable experience and insights into the unique needs of children at various stages of their early development. This hands-on experience has shaped my understanding of how to create a comfortable, inclusive, and stimulating environment for every child.

In 2019, I completed advanced management training to take on the role of head teacher. My responsibilities now include leading the kindergarten with a focus on logistics, effective communication with parents, staff management, and, most importantly, ensuring the happiness and holistic development of your children.

One of my special roles is teaching German as part of our language development program. I work closely with the Green and Blue groups several times a week, helping children build their German-speaking skills through engaging and interactive activities.

I am deeply committed to fostering a space where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. I look forward to continuing this rewarding journey alongside our wonderful team, children, and families.
